This beautifully designed purse is vintage circa 1970s. It was purchased from a small collection and I was told by the estate that the bags were purchased in the 1970s and cost $400.00 to $450.00 each at that time. The outside of this bag is tan kid skin leather and the lining is off white grosgrain fabric. The frame is lucite with pewter or silver plated trim and the chain is also lucite. The bag measures 7 1/2 x 6 1/2 x 1 1/2 inches and the chain strap measures 50 inches long. The bag opens not at the top but at the flap in the front. There is another slat type pocket on the back.
This pretty bag looks new on the inside but the outside has been marked by what looks like some sort of oil as it has darkened the leather where it touched. I have shown this in the pictures. The bag can be carried as is as the front has only a small amount on it, around the edges. Most of the marks are on the back. You could have the bag professionally dyed a dark color to cover this or carry it as-is. It is sold as-is. |
