This unusual brooch is vintage circa 1930s or 40s. It is fashioned from carved ivory. The face looks like an African Mask. It measures 2 x 15/16 inches. I do not know what the hole on either side of the crown was for, perhaps earring type ornaments? The condition is very good, there is a surface crack in the ivory on the back side which does not go through to the other side. You can see it in the pictures. All I know of the origins of this brooch is that the owner came from Germany.
