| This great vintage costume sketch looks like it is from the 1940s to me but I do not know the actual date. It is by an artist by the name of E.M. Birdsall, which an art dealer once told me was a "listed artist", but again, it is not my field. This was purchased with a group of 12 costume sketches about 5 years ago. I kept this one back as I thought it was the best, I have decided to sell it now. It appears to me to be done in pencil and water colors. The colors are vibrant and very striking. The picture measures 15 X 10 inches. The sketch is done on a piece of medium weight paper that has aged to a cream color and is backed with an acid free board with plastic over the entire piece. The signature is also done in pencil on the bottom right hand corner of the sketch. Note that the white that shows in the bottom right hand corner of the photo is something stuck to the outside plastic and not on the sketch
