These fabulous gloves are vintage circa 1940's. They are fashioned from the softest black kidskin suede and the top ornamentation is black and white kidskin. They are stamped inside "Freddy Paris". They are from the estate of Ethel Smith, who was an organist who worked in movies in the 1930's and 40's. I am told you can see her playing the organ in the Disney 50th anniversary video. One outstanding feature of these gloves can be seen in picture #2. Once the gloves are on your hand, you push the ends up toward your wrist and they puff out, it looks too cool and Tres Chic! They measure 10 1/2 inches long and 3 inches across the knuckle area and I think you would have to have very small hands to wear them. They have been worn but the condition is very good. They do have the problem that dyed kid had from this period which is the black rubs off. You have to either just display them or only wear them with black clothing & accessories. |
